Announcement for Immediate Use

TEA informed all superintendents the first week of November 2020 that districts could establish a process for considering termination of remote learning for students who were struggling. Texas School Procedures has developed a protocol, two documents, and two letters in English and Spanish to help districts  begin to immediately address students who are not attending online learning, not making adequate progress, or failing. 

The protocol and documents are aligned with TEA requirements and have been reviewed by an attorney. The appeal is based on a parent being able to provide medical documentation for the student or family members in the home being at risk. If the parent cannot provide that and meet the appeal criteria, he/she can always file a grievance.

All campus administrators will need to know that this packet will be housed in the Campus Operational Section under COVID Specific. District administrators may wish to review this in the next scheduled principal meeting.
